Get Ready for Ramadan 2020

Writer: Abdul Sabur MuhammadAbdul Sabur Muhammad

As-Salaam Alaikum

Every day above ground is a good day. (Abdul Hafeez Muhammad)

Soon we begin the Holy Month of Ramadan. Over 1 billion Muslims celebrate and praise Allah for the Revelation of the Holy Qur’an by fasting during the daylight hours in the 9th month of the lunar calendar.

Muslim followers of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad have a tradition of fasting. In earlier days of our study, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad advised us to fast in the month of December. He chose that month to fast because most of his followers were raised in America as Christians and discovered one of the hardest things to do is to separate ourselves from family traditions in December. Gift exchanges, family dinners, and feigned belief in Santa are the precursor to lying, stealing and adultery. So these are great days to fast and strengthen our discipline and our spiritual immune systems by fasting as in the Month of Ramadan.

Today, with decades of Islam in Black America, we have united in our fast with over 1 billion Muslim brothers and sisters.

Watch this message from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan delivered at Mosque Maryam as we fast during the Holy Month of Ramadan in July 2016 and give us your thoughts.
